Demand For Services

As you may be aware the NHS in general and General Practice in particular, is currently experiencing huge demand for services. Demand is always much higher in winter anyway with lots of viral illness circulating due to the colder weather and us all spending more time indoors. The majority of these viral illnesses will settle with time – sometimes they can take several days, if not a week or so to settle. Please bear this in mind when booking our appointments – booking an appointment for symptoms which are mild, short lived and likely to be viral, blocks that appointment from someone else who may have a more serious illness or condition.

If you do have symptoms which you consider serious and warrant an emergency appointment please be aware that the doctor may need to see you face to face –  in this situation they will offer an appointment and will expect that you can attend the surgery that day – sometimes they may want you to come to the surgery soon after speaking to them. If you are unable to attend in this way, it would suggest an emergency appointment is not necessary so please arrange an alternative type of appointment.
