Prescriptions

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
N.B Please allow two working days for ALL prescription requests.

In most cases, repeat prescriptions may be obtained without seeing a GP. Bring your printed repeat slip into any surgery to request more medication or order using Systmonline services. Two working daysmust be given for all repeat prescriptions and we cannot issue a prescription where it is more than 2 weeks before the prescription is due unless you provide a specific reason for an early request. Except for Christmas where all prescriptions can be ordered up to three week in advance.

You can click here to order online prescriptions if you have registered to do so.

Prescriptions will not be issued over the telephone with the exception of Monk Fryston Surgery. Monk Fryston patients needing to request a prescription will need to telephone the surgery during its opening hours and not call a branch site. Alternatively, all patients can request prescriptions using the online system, please speak to a receptionist to register your details for the SystmOne online appointment and prescription system.

All patients will be given a medication review date by their GP. Failure to book an appointment for a review may lead to a delay in authorising your prescription – in many cases a medication review can be performed through a telephone consultation, please check with a receptionist. Contraception reviews are performed by the GP or Practice Nurse depending on the patient and prescriptions will not be issued without a relevant appointment being made.

Please note – medication that is not on your current repeat prescription list will be referred in the first instance to the GP. You may need to book an appointment to obtain medication in this instance.

DISPENSING MEDICATION

When requesting your medication please be clear whether you would like to collect your prescription from the surgery or have it sent to a local chemist of your choice to be prepared for you. Please be aware that each chemist comes to the surgery to collect their assigned printed prescriptions, we cannot be held responsible for any chemist delay or failure to collect prescriptions within an appropriate time-scale.  Please note the chemists collect prescriptions from Kippax on a daily basis except Boots (High Street) who collect them on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

If you are unsatisfied with any chemist or pharmacy service, please contact the respective manager of that particular company.

Monk Fryston patients may collect their medication from the on-site dispensary. Please note that patients living in South Milford, Sherburn In Elmet and Thorpe Willoughby will not be eligible for dispensed medication and will need to collect it from their local chemist.

If you need medication or a prescription urgently and Monk Fryston surgery is closed, please telephone Kippax (or your call to Monk Fryston will be automatically diverted) If the practice is closed, please call 111.

(You can return any unused/unwanted medicines to Monk Fryston surgery for safe disposal.)
