Smear Tests
We recommend that all women between the ages of 25 and 64 have smear tests at recommended internals unless advised otherwise by the doctor. Please check with the practice nurse for recommended intervals.
The procedure involves an examination of the cervix (neck of the womb) to check for changes that can occasionally occur in some women before cancer might develop.
These changes can be treated effectively and quickly and cancer of the cervix thus prevented. Please make an appointment at reception.
Patients are notified of results and a reminder letter sent when the next smear is due.
